Chic at 60ish!

Looking and feeling great at every age

YOUR “BUY/ KEEP/ STORE” LIST FOR SPRING!

Off to Florida to visit with dear friends and enjoy some sun and R&R—I’ll let you know the latest on resort fashion directly from beautiful Boca Raton and Palm Beach when I return. In the meantime, I asked Missy Dietz, general manager of Boyds in Philadelphia & Wayne and Sandy Edelstein, owner of Grove 121 in Bryn Mawr for their Spring “Buy/Keep/Store” lists. Whether you too are headed south or just starting to dream of spring, here’s a wonderful shopping list, as well as some ideas if you’re “cruising” through stores & scrolling online one rainy afternoon. Nothing more fun than buying sandals in a thunder storm!

MUST-HAVES FOR SPRING, EVERY LOOK IS AVAILABLE AT EVERY PRICE POINT: My daughter’s best friend Maggie snapped this photo while I was enjoying the view in Long Boat Key, FL–my favorite white wide-leg Kora jeans at AGjeans.com; The Row Margaux handbag at Boyds in Philadelphia & Wayne; Manolo Blahnik sling-backs at neimanmarcus.com

BUY:

A pair of wide-leg jeans or flowy, flared pants

A great white shirt

A fabulous jacket to throw over everything

Sling-back pumps

A Margaux handbag from The Row—or a copy—get on the wait list now!

THREE FOR THREE: Classic & modern at once, navy knit tunic from ralphlauren.com over Cambio white boot-leg jeans from Grove 121 in Bryn Mawr; Stuart Weitzman ballet flats from neimanmarcus.com; a bright red lip from Tom Ford at saksfifthavenue.com

KEEP:

Skinny or boot leg jeans—they’re flattering & they’ll be back

Sneakers—for walks & workouts only—time to put real shoes on

Your favorite jean jacket

Ballet flats & loafers

Anything red—including red lipstick

IT’S DONE! Florence Pugh in Del Core at the Oscars, she is literally naked underneath–we’re finished with the nude look–& if you’re 60ish, that’s forever; super-high platforms feel very clunky & outdated this spring

STORE OR DONATE:

Anything with cut-outs or illusion through your middle—so overdone & just not elegant—to me, those dresses look ice skating costumes, enough!

Platform shoes

Low-rise jeans—if you’re 60ish, they’re never coming back—simply not flattering

KEEP FOREVER: CASUAL ELEGANCE–Two of my favorite pieces, white silk tiered Collection top from michaelkors.com & L’Agence black silk wide-leg pants from Boyds in Philadelphia & Wayne

There is a refinement to clothes this spring—the look is neater, more polished & pulled together than it’s been in years. You’ll notice it everywhere at every price point. A backlash to the sloppiness of covid? To the horror of the news every day? Casual luxe. Easy elegance. All with a bit of attitude & edge. Enjoy every gorgeous moment & I’ll see you in a few weeks~ Ellyn Golder Saft
