There’s a yin/yang moodiness to fashion this spring. Modern/retro. Edgy/flowy. Tailored/boho. Rugged/refined. All reflecting today’s woman—confident, secure, sure of herself.

Keep accessories personal: Two of my favorite things are my mother’s chunky gold necklace & bangle bracelets—I wear them all the time to “have her with me” 🙂
My grandmother used to say, “No woman is the same all the time.” So true. We are multifaceted; no woman fits into one box. The best way to show that is with accessories. Spring’s run the gamut. This is the season of “anything goes!” Trendy to vintage, there’s no “it bag.” No “must-have” designer stiletto. It all depends on your mood & where you’re going—the only constant is “be yourself!” (And at 60ish, please be comfortable too.) Always. That’s what “in” in 2025.
What brings you joy? Here are some of my favorite things this spring:

A top-handle handbag to carry everywhere: (top) Parker Posey as Victoria Ratliff in “The White Lotus,” carrying her Gucci 1947 top-handle handbag, at gucci.com (“I just don’t think at this age, I’m meant to be uncomfortable!”); (center) the new Chanel 25 bag in an array of colors at chanel.com; (bottom) an array of handbags & totes at Boyds Wayne

A smaller, evening bag—try a great color: Princess Kate, carrying her Nano Montreal top-handle bag at Demillier.com; brocade evening bag at saintlaurent.com; Collection “garden” bag at michaelkors..com

Block heels or try the new chic jellies: Iro “jellies” in a myriad of colors, from the shoe wall at Boyds in Philadelphia & Wayne; Louboutin “So Jane” slingbacks from neimanmarcus.com

A beautiful watch: Serpentini Tubogas watch from bulgari.com; Runwell watch at shinola.com or neimanmarcus.com—not a million dollars, this is actually the watch I wear everyday, I love it & I can see it!

A pretty skirt to dress up or down: Olivia floral applique skirt at mariellestokkelarr.com

The perfect pair of jeans—high or mid-waisted—whatever feels best: Cropped jeans from l’agence.com; mid & high-waisted jeans from agjeans.com

Something sentimental—perhaps a gift from someone special—or a gift to yourself! My mother’s robin’s egg blue enamel & diamond “chick” pin—like her necklace & bracelets above, I wear it often & receive 100 compliments every time I do!
In these precarious times, dress for joy. Throw on a brooch that was your grandmother’s, a pendant that was your mom’s or earrings your spouse/partner or children gave you—carrying them in your heart all day. Wear what makes you smile! Isn’t that we need more of right now??? Enjoy every fierce, chic moment~ Ellyn Golder Saft

ps. I’m off to Paris next week–will write about the latest trends there when I return. Till then, have a wonderful Mother’s Day—sending all warm wishes to all my readers!
